CALGARY, AB (March 25, 2025): NGIF Accelerator, a leading cleantech accelerator for Canada’s natural gas sector, has announced a funding contribution of $402,000 to Qube Technologies (Qube) for emissions localization and quantification through continuous methane emission monitoring systems. Provided through the Industry Grants program, the funding will support Qube’s mission to transform environmental monitoring in the oil and gas industry.

Qube, a Global Cleantech Challenge finalist and a pioneer in environmental monitoring solutions, has developed an end-to-end continuous monitoring system that uses advanced sensors and powerful machine-learning algorithms. This technology detects methane emissions, quantifies them, and pinpoints their source accurately.

Qube has already made significant strides in the industry by deploying over 6,000 units of their monitoring device at more than 1,000 sites, becoming the first technology provider to receive regulatory approval for continuous monitoring technology in North America, and partnering with leading oil and gas operators across the globe.

Fully embedded in the NGIF ecosystem with an equity investment from NGIF Capital and live testing through the NGIF Emissions Testing Centre Program, NGIF Accelerator’s funding will allow Qube to further refine its technology and provide operators with the necessary tools to develop more efficient emissions management practices.

“We are excited to support Qube in their mission to transform environmental monitoring, aligning with our commitment to driving innovation in Canada’s natural gas industry,” said John Adams, President and CEO of NGIF Accelerator. “Our Industry Grants program and its focus on de-risking clean technologies through field trials and pilots are part of NGIF’s integrated model of industry validation, customer creation, and technology commercialization.”

“Qube is excited to receive funding through NGIF Accelerator and continue to provide a solution for emissions monitoring across Canada and globally, as we see the emerging importance for operators to understand their site-level emissions to properly manage and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions,” says Alex MacGregor, Qube’s CEO. “This project will allow Qube to further refine its technology and provide operators with the ability to continuously detect, localize, and quantify their emissions in a scalable way.”

“Canadians want and need the affordable, reliable, and low-emission energy service offering they have come to expect from the natural gas industry. When we created NGIF, it was our vision to bring the entire natural gas value chain together to support cleantech development that enhances environmental and economic performance for the sector. I am glad to see our vision in action as NGIF continues to support innovations like Qube’s monitoring system,” said Timothy M. Egan, President and CEO, Canadian Gas Association and Chair, NGIF Capital Corporation.
