From Feedback to Feature: How Qube Technologies Enhances Safe Operations Through Customer Insights
Introduction
At Qube Technologies, listening to our customers isn’t just part of what we do—it’s central to our mission. In the critical field of emissions monitoring, understanding real-world challenges and anticipating customers’ emerging needs are key to driving innovation. By actively engaging with customer feedback, collaborating directly with users, and rigorously testing our products, Qube transforms insights into actionable improvements that enhance safety and operational excellence.
The Qube Customer Feedback Loop
Whether it’s input from a small compliance team or a large-scale operator managing complex emissions, customer experiences directly shape the evolution of our solutions. Recently, this feedback led to two major updates: increasing the detection limit of our hydrogen sulphide (H2S) sensors and introducing ammonia (NH3) sensors. Both innovations address safety-critical gases underscoring Qube’s commitment to protecting people, the environment and operations.
Customer-Driven Innovations
Enhancing H2S Detection for Safer Operations
One of our most frequent customer requests was greater sensitivity for detecting H2S, a highly toxic gas with a distinctive odor. While our sensors already offered robust monitoring, customers in high exposure environments sought even more precision to better protect workers and nearby communities.
In response, Qube increased the H2S sensor detection limit to measure concentrations as high as 100 ppm. Combined with automated alarm settings, this improvement provides more accurate data, empowering customers to assess risk and respond proactively (Fig. 1). By enhancing detection capabilities, Qube helps reduce exposure risks for personnel and communities, aligning with our dedication to advancing safety and environmental stewardship.
Introducing NH3 Sensors for Comprehensive Monitoring
Ammonia (NH3) emissions, particularly relevant in agriculture and wastewater treatment, have become a growing concern for many of our customers. Ammonia poses significant health risks, such as toxicity when inhaled and corrosive effects on skin and eyes, with strict exposure limits (short-term exposure limit: 35 ppm; time-weighted average: 25ppm (1). It also contributes to environmental issues like air quality degradation and acidification.
To address these challenges, Qube developed a new line of NH3 sensors. These sensors deliver real-time, continuous monitoring and integrate seamlessly with existing Qube systems, enabling consolidated data reporting and streamlined reporting (Fig. 2). By providing reliable NH3 detection, Qube empowers operators to manage potential leaks effectively, ensuring safer operating environments and cost savings.
