The Journey to Qube
Andrew's career began during his university years at the University of British Columbia, where he first crossed paths with Qube's founders, Alex and Eric. His early experiences included an internship at a coal mine in British Columbia and conducting well site inspections in Alberta.
An accomplished engineer with over 15 years of industry experience, Andrew's career spans nearly every aspect of oil and gas engineering including:
Facility engineering and pipeline construction for new wells
Production engineering for mature water flood assets
Reservoir engineering focused on improving recovery in tight rock formations
Operations engineering managing complex sour gas facilities
Software consulting for oil and gas applications, specializing in asset development planning and reserves management
When Eric invited Andrew to join Qube during their Series A phase and lead the establishment of the Houston office, the decision felt natural. "It was really a good fit for me," Andrew shares, "At Qube, I found the perfect intersection of my expertise – leveraging technology and software while drawing on my operational experience to tackle the critical challenge of emissions."

For those entering the field, Andrew emphasizes curiosity as the foundation of his success: "Really being deeply curious about the problem you're trying to solve is key." But curiosity alone isn’t enough. "Be open-minded and actively listen to your customers. Learn how they run their businesses, and use that understanding to share insights and lessons from others who’ve found success.”
Fun Fact
Andrew’s early career began in the prairies of Alberta, where he spent a summer inspecting well sites – armed with six-foot tongs to wrangle prairie rattlesnakes. While not as lethal as their southern cousins, these encounters made for a memorable introduction to the industry!
